Sunrise in Newport Beach
I love waking up at dawn on the water when it’s a bit dark outside, the world is quiet and there is so much hope for the new day. After living on a sailboat for 3 years, I’ve fallen into the natural rhythm of waking up with the sunrise and love watching the mystery of the day unfold as the sun filters over the horizon. I heard the sound of ocean waves crashing across the street from the Marina this morning and decided to go for a run to check it out.
One of the things I love about Newport Beach is that it has the best of all worlds - boat life in the Harbor and beach life just a short dinghy ride to shore. I headed down to the Newport Pier and found a calm, glassy ocean with a few small waves that would crack when they hit the sand and echo down the coastline. Not the monstrous surf break I was expecting (haha), but still a beautiful morning admiring the majesty of nature.
